Research is essential to building a successful new business venture.  You'll need information about your market, your potential customers, funding possibilities, and more.  This guide should provide some general starting points for your research, but don't hesitate to reach out to me for more in-depth questions.  I'm here to help.

Most of our library subscription databases are licensed for academic use only.  If you are an OSU student participating in an entrepreneurship class, event, or program on campus primarily as a learning experience, these resources are available for your work.  If your use is primarily for a commercial purpose, there are often open data sources we might utilize for this research.  (These resources are marked with a * at the end of their name.)  Email me with any questions.

Lastly, I recommend you get a Columbus Metropolitan Library card, if you don't already have one.  They have a couple of resources that may prove useful as well.  These links are indicated by (CM) at the end of the name.   

The Ohio State University Libraries have current and historical newspapers holdings in print, electronically, and on microform. Print editions of newspapers are commonly kept for 2-4 weeks, depending upon the newspaper. The one exception is the Wall Street Journal, which is kept until the microfilm version arrives, generally 1-2 months later.
