Earthrise

In 1968, Apollo 8 traveled to Earth’s moon and sent back the 1st pictures from lunar orbit of our home planet.  On the Christmas Eve broadcast, Command Module Pilot Jim Lovell said:

“The vast loneliness is awe-inspiring and it makes you realize just what you have back there on Earth.”

The 1st Earth Day was on April 22, 1970.
