A+ Research: Help for Your Writing Assignments

OSU Senior Yehosef Thomas gives you a template you can use for most of your academic writing assignments, from your freshman year through your senior year. The template (from Gerald Graff and Cathy Birkenstein’s book, They Say /I Say: The Moves that Matter in Academic Writing) and Yehosef’s explanation are intended to take away the mystery from most academic writing. (This event will NOT connect you with a faculty member who wants to hire student researchers. Contact the Undergraduate Research Office for that.)

Learning Outcomes:

Explain how academic writing is actually making an argument
Start with what others have said about your topic or research question(s).
Acknowledge criticisms that others may have about your view and why you believe they are incorrect.
