Welcome to the Maps & Geospatial Data guide! University Libraries provides support to Ohio State students and faculty interested in learning and using GIS or maps for course assignments, research projects, and more.
We can provide you with assistance for finding geospatial datasets, organizing and cleaning geospatial data, and choosing the right software or tool for your project.
In addition to the various tools available for GIS analysis and online mapping, Ohio State has a large collection of paper maps primarily located in the Gardner Family Map Room in Thompson Library.
Data-Planet Statistical Datasets
Provides access to statistical datasets produced by U.S. federal agencies, states, private organizations, and major intergovernmental organizations in subject categories including: Banking, Finance, and Insurance; Criminal Justice and Law; Education; Energy Resources and Demand; Food and Agriculture; Government and Politics; Health and Vital Statistics; Housing and Construction; Industry, Business, and Commerce; International; Labor and Employment; Natural Resources and Environment; Population and Income; Prices and Cost of Living; Stocks and Commodities; and Transportation and Travel. Datasets can be exported in tabular and shapefile formats for use in a GIS.
