Evidence Synthesis in the Social Sciences

This guide will give you an overview of evidence synthesis methodology and discuss relevant resources and tools.

Searching Tips

After you've translated your searches into the specific syntax for each database, and after you've then run your searches, generally you'll want to export your results as BibTeX, RIS or XML files so you can import those files into a citation management program.  Almost certainly your searches will retrieve duplicate results and you will need to de-duplicate before article screening.  Both citation management software and software designed specifically for evidence synthesis reviews (see 'Article screening' tab) will facilitate this process.
