Video

Our Purpose as librarians: Helping to support social science scholars through the evidence synthesis research methodology processes.

We can:

  • Explain what evidence synthesis is and discuss the many different types of reviews.
  • Provide guidance regarding how to begin an evidence synthesis project.
  • Help researchers develop comprehensive search strategies.
  • Provide resources to help researchers within the social sciences develop a protocol and begin their research.

We cannot:

  • Meet with researchers on an ongoing basis throughout the course of their projects
  • Conduct searches and retrieve results.

A note for social science researchers

Evidence synthesis methodology was developed mainly in the hard sciences so while this guide is geared towards social science researchers, a lot of the resources and further readings will be pulled from these various science disciplines (especially medicine).
