IBISWorld Industry Reports provide a really good starting point to get an overview of an industry. Reports can be searched by keyword, NAICS, or major company and include information on industry outlook, market concentration and breakdown, industry ratios and more.
NetAdvantage includes 'Industry Survey' reports accessible either through direct searching or a company's profile page. These reports provide good background information for an industry, especially related to financial metrics and markets. (But they also include Porter's Five Forces analysis, key drivers, trends and more.)

Industry reports include information on imports/exports, forecasts, and production, while country reports discuss political risks, instability, government finance, and more. These considerations would be relevant to companies operating within a particular country, or industry.

From the Basic Search page you can specify if you'd like to see only US, or international companies, and can screen by industry to see a list of all companies in that industry (which are included in the database coverage). There is also a Sustainability tab in this database wherein you can find a sustainability rating and brief ESG reports for select companies.
The Hoover's Online database has an option to 'Build a Company List' through which you can build a list of companies that meet your desired characteristics, including the ability to build a list of all companies within a particular industry.

Industry Classification
Some industry resources are organized or indexed by an industry classification number. It can be helpful to note this number when using some of the Libraries' resources to browse more effectively for relevant information.
The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) is the standard used by Federal statistical agencies in classifying business establishments for the purpose of collecting, analyzing, and publishing statistical data related to the U.S. business economy.
SIC is a system for classifying industries by a four-digit code. The NAICS was developed to replace the SIC code, but some resources still contain the SIC.
