Generative AI Foundations: Building AI Knowledge for Today and Beyond

In this interactive session, students will explore and discuss the fundamentals, benefits, and limitations of Generative AI (GenAI) tools, play a prediction game to demonstrate how Large Language Models (LLMs) work, and get hands-on practice using Microsoft Copilot. The session is designed to provide a foundational understanding of GenAI and students of all experience levels are welcome to attend to learn more about this revolutionary tool.

 

Learning Outcomes

After completing this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Explain 2 fundamentals, 2 limitations, and 2 benefits of using GenAI tools
  • Distinguish the use of GenAI tools from that of search engines
  • Access and interact with Microsoft Copilot
