In addition, The AFRO American Newspapers, with funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, partnered with the Johns Hopkins University to create The Afro Newspaper Morgue Collections. This online site uses Archon, an open source archival database management system, developed by the University of Illinois Champagne-Urbana. Caribbean Newspapers, Series 1, 1718-1876: From the American Antiquarian Society covers colonial history, the Atlantic slave trade, international commerce, New World slavery, U.S. relations, and other topics. Coverage includes every country of Sub-Saharan Africa and spans from 1800 to the present.The Center for Research Libraries (CRL) and The Cooperative Africana Materials Project (CAMP) have collected more than 1,400 African newspapers on microform.
Ethnic NewsWatch is a current resource of full-text newspapers, magazines, and journals of the ethnic and minority press, providing researchers access to essential, often overlooked perspectives. The database now also contains Ethnic NewsWatch: A History, which provides historical coverage of Native American, African American, and Hispanic American periodicals from 1959-1989.
