The AFRO American Newspapers, in cooperation with Google, established Afro Archives.  Afro Archives, also known as The Vault, provides online access to digitally archived issues of The Afro American National Edition, January 1902 – December 1957;  Afro American Ledger, October 1906 – June 1917; Baltimore Afro American, January 1943 – December 2003 and; Washington Afro American, August 1938 – June 1988. In addition, The AFRO American Newspapers, with funding from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, partnered with the Johns Hopkins University to create The Afro Newspaper Morgue Collections.  This online site uses Archon, an open source archival database management system, developed by the University of Illinois Champagne-Urbana.  The Morgue Collections contains clippings, images, and other ephemera from the Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Richmond, and Newark district office areas. Newspaper database provides online access to African American newspapers chronicling culture and daily life in the 19th and 20th centuries. This collection features papers from 35 states, including many rare and historically significant 19th century titles.

Caribbean Newspapers, Series 1, 1718-1876: From the American Antiquarian Society covers colonial history, the Atlantic slave trade, international commerce, New World slavery, U.S. relations, and other topics. Database includes eyewitness reports, editorials, legislative information, letters, poetry, advertisements, and obituaries. Content includes articles from Antigua, Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, Cuba, Curaçao, Dominica, Grenada, Guadaloupe, Haiti, Jamaica, Martinique, Montserrat, Nevis, Puerto Rico, St. Bartholomew, St. Christopher, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Tobago, Trinidad, and the Virgin Islands.

African Newspapers is part of the World Newspaper Archive, a partnership of College Research Libraries and Readex. Resource currently provides digital access to fully searchable African newspapers published between 1800 and 1925.

African Newspapers on Microform

Coverage includes every country of Sub-Saharan Africa and spans from 1800 to the present.The Center for Research Libraries (CRL) and The Cooperative Africana Materials Project (CAMP) have collected more than 1,400 African newspapers on microform.

 Ethnic NewsWatch

Ethnic NewsWatch is a current resource of full-text newspapers, magazines, and journals of the ethnic and minority press, providing researchers access to essential, often overlooked perspectives. The database now also contains Ethnic NewsWatch: A History, which provides historical coverage of Native American, African American, and Hispanic American periodicals from 1959-1989​.
