IP Policy

It's important to be aware that as a faculty, staff member, or student at The Ohio State University, you are subject to the University's IP Policy. You should read this policy, assure you understand it and its applicability to your situation, and reach out with any questions to the Innovation and Economic Development Office.

This is a link to the actual text of The Ohio State University Intellectual Property policy. This policy applies to faculty staff and students and you should read it carefully and make sure you understand it. If you do not, reach out to the TCO with your questions.
The Ohio State University Office of Innovation and Economic Development
This is the main office wherein you can gain access to the technology commercialization team. This page links you to their Inventors page which provides some initial information on invention disclosure, licensing and more.
The Ohio State University Office Of Legal Affairs
While the TCO has the primary responsibility to provide IP assistance to OSU members, the Office of Legal Affairs also "provides support and assistance to the University's colleges, departments and units when they are faced with issues relating to the creation, acquisition, ownership, protection and commercialization of intellectual property."
Intellectual Property, Patents, and Copyright (IPPC) Committee
"The Committee on Intellectual Property, Patents, and Copyrights (IPPC) considers issues relating to the development, dissemination, and commercialization of intellectual property of faculty, students and staff."
