Guide to Government Documents and Information

Assistance and Borrowing

OSU Libraries are committed to providing a safe environment where research, learning, and a free exchange of ideas can occur.  Patrons of all ages are welcome to freely access the government documents collections.

OSU faculty, staff, students, and Courtesy Cardholders may borrow circulating documents from OSU Libraries collections and other library consortiumssuch as OhioLINK.  Non-OSU patrons should use the interlibrary loan service of the academic or corporate library with which they are affiliated or that of their local public library.

Teaching and Learning staff are available to provide basic assistance in locating government documents and information. This includes searching the library catalog and library databases. Patrons needing more in-depth assistance may be referred to Subject Librarians, the Government Documents Coordinator, and/or subject specialists at other Federal, state or national libraries/archives.

Please contact Circulation in several days in advance of a planned visit if needed materials are held in OSU’s Depository.  With prior notification materials held at the Depository can be called back for use in the library.

Ohio State Libraries is committed to providing equitable access to all of our facilities, resources, and services.  A list of these accommodations and services can be found here.

Please contact library and/or government document personnel prior to your visit if there are any concerns about accessing or using the government documents collections and/or equipment.  With prior notification, materials held at our remote Depository can be called back for use in the library.

Please check for the OSU Catalog for the latest news about accessing and using library locations and materials.
