A+ Research Presentation Series

Intro to Selecting the Right Resources

A+ Research: Selecting the Right Resources

Without Having to Read All of Everything First

Okay, so you’ve found tons of sources that may work. If you don’t have a plan, one is as good (or bad) as another. OSU Senior Yehosef Thomas shows you how to save time identifying the best ones to use for your purpose. (This event will NOT connect you with a faculty member hiring researchers. For that, contact the Undergraduate Research Office.)

Learning Objectives:

  • Explain why choosing the right sources from those you find is important to how quickly you can carry out the project, how hard you have to work on it, and what your grade is likely to be on the project.
  • Plan what sources are likely to be needed for a particular research project before actually starting to look.
  • Use techniques that help you quickly discriminate between sources that are most likely to be useful for a project and those likely to be less useful—without reading all of any of them.
